Stephen Woody – Pastor

I serve FBCY as the lead pastor, and have enjoyed this role since 2022. I grew up in western NC and previously served churches in Virginia and SC before moving to Maine. I received my MDIV from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Wake Forest, NC. I am passionate for people everywhere to gain a true conception of the beauty of God’s character, seen most clearly in the person of Jesus, so that they can fulfill their calling to reflect his image and find true human flourishing. I am thankful for my community of faith at FBCY and our partnership in the good news of God’s generosity and love. Life in Maine is great! I enjoy taking advantage of our beautiful surroundings through hiking, fishing, and other outdoor activities. I am married to my wonderful wife Melissa, and have three great kids: Levi, Jacob, and Emmie.

Michael Shorey – Youth Pastor

I serve as the Pastor of Youth and Family at FBCY, where I’ve been blessed to minister since 2008. Growing up in New Hampshire, I was deeply impacted by youth and camp ministries, and I’m passionate about helping kids of all ages grow in their faith. It’s a joy to watch them discover God’s heart and character with awe and wonder. I hold a BS in Christian Ministries from New England Bible College and an MAR in Family Ministries from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary.

Outside of ministry, I enjoy hiking, playing sports, coaching youth sports, and working on building projects. I’m grateful for life in Maine with my wife, Megan, and our four boys.

Nathan Oschner – Elder

I serve as a lay elder and chair the ministry board at FBCY. I have a passion for discipleship and enjoy helping people understand God’s word in a way that can be effectively applied to their lives. I surrendered my life to Christ at a young age but my college years proved to be highly transformational when the Holy Spirit ignited a passion for the depths of the realities of my relationship with God.

I am married to my college sweetheart, Bridgitte, and we have two sons, Theodore and Montgomery. We live in North Yarmouth where we run a greenhouse operation. I grew up in South Portland and graduated from the University of New Hampshire with a degree in Landscape Horticulture.

Deacon of Worship – Miranda Gildart

I serve as deacon of worship and have attended FBCY my entire life.  I'm passionate about musical worship and creating a space for people to meet with God through song and meditation.  I have sung with choirs since I was a child and at FBCY since I was a teenager; now I have the privilege to help form musical teams that serve the congregation.  I love having deep roots in Yarmouth; my children are fourth generation Yarmouth residents and I work at the Barber shop on Main Street.

Deacon of Outreach – Bridgitte Ochsner

I serve as deacon of outreach and am passionate about helping people understand the many ways churches and individuals interact with the cultures around them.  One of my favorite things about Christianity is that the greatness of the gospel is accessible to anyone and Jesus reaches diverse hearts with incredible precision and timing. I’ve lived in New England my whole life and have attended FBCY since 2006. I’ve served as a deacon since 2019 and during that time have enjoyed several works by Tim Keller to help guide our team’s approach to outreach.  I teach Chemistry part-time at a local high school and enjoy reading, playing in water, eating pastries and going on adventures with my family.  I am married to Nathan and have two bear cubs…err… sons, Teddy and Monte.

Deacon of Finance – Richard Dawson

I serve FBCY as the Deacon of Finance and have been in that position since March 2020. I retired in July 2020, after a 43 year career as a CPA, and I am pleased to use this experience in serving the church. I am very fortunate to be part of a dedicated finance team that is committed to responsible management and stewardship of the church’s financial resources. I was born and raised in the mid-coast area of Maine and have lived in Southern Maine since 1983. I enjoy many outdoor activities including golf, bicycling and hiking. I have been happily married to my wonderful wife Val for over 45 years and we have two adult children and four grandchildren.
